Monette Farms seeks CCAA extension as 350,000 acre operation works through sale process

by Nikki M Christopher

Under the radar: one of the largest farm operations in the country is working through a CCAA process, and the sale timeline now runs into December.

DTN reported Nov 4 that Monette Farms, a 350,000 acre operation, became insolvent on April 15, 2026 when $829.5M in loans came due. A $90M DIP facility was approved on May 1.

The operation is now seeking to extend its protection from Nov 13 to Nov 25. A court approved Arizona farmland sale, approved Aug 19, had still not closed at Nov 2. The bid deadline was extended to Nov 3, and the sale process termination date is Dec 4.

For agricultural and land investors, the figures set the scale: $829.5M of loans against a 350,000 acre operation, financed through the process by a $90M DIP. Court supervised farmland sales of this size set pricing references well beyond one operation, so track the bid process and the Arizona closing before pricing prairie land off older comparables.
