BoC hike fallout: a roughly 50% renewal payment shock is now quantified
Update: Desjardins, reported Oct 29, says variable-rate borrowers who made no extra payments and renew soon face a payment shock of roughly 50% this fall and winter, and BoC officials called the housing outlook "subdued," with residential investment seen contributing almost nothing to growth through 2028.
Investor impact: expect more forced and early sellers in Ontario through winter, and price that pipeline into low-rise and condo offers.
